The collaboration of skilled, driven and creative chefs and restaurateurs. The association aims to promote gastronomy, both in the field of food, wine and hospitality, without affecting the identity of the individual restaurants.
The Alliance Gastronomique was founded in 1967 by nineteen Dutch restaurateurs in response to the disturbing trend towards flattening of taste, inadequate professional training and a lack of quality culinary products. An innovative and unprecedented initiative in the Netherlands. After all, the Netherlands was not known for its high-quality food culture. The snack bar and the simple restaurant were especially popular. Eating at a culinary level such as in Belgium and France was still in its infancy and was a real speciality for most of the population.
The fact that the collaboration was a success had everything to do with the innovative vision, faith and perseverance of the initiators.
The Alliance Gastronomique has now existed for 41 years, making it the longest existing culinary partnership in Europe.
